“It’s interesting that many national leaders in the past always praised Mr. Leimena’s character,” said a participant after watching a documentary about Johannes Leimena.
Johanes Leimena is a well known national hero. His contributions were concrete. He was also a Christian with a patriotic spirit, who did his best to bless this nation. We hope to impart this spirit to all who joined the Training of Trainers for Nationhood Education. From this ToT, may the participants will pass on the idea of nationhood in their respective churches and work places.
This training took place at GKI (Gereja Kristen Indonesia) Kayu Putih with 52 people from Gereja Kristen Indonesia in Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, Bekasi, Bandung, and Cirebon. For two days training, 23 & 30 October 2017, all participants learnt to understand the idea on “Indonesianess”, Indonesia after the Amendment of the 1945 Constitution: what will be the role of the people, especially Christians’ participation in politic and justice.
Training is using Adults Learning Method where the participants were the subjects of the process. They led and played active role in discussions, video lecture, and case study led by facilitators from Leimena Institute. They were Daniel Adipranata, Puansari Siregar, Olivia Theodore, Vonny Tjandra and Yans Penina.
At the last session, they all worked together to design action-plans to implement what they had learnt led by Rev. Darwin Darmawan and Rev. Dr. Natanael Setiadi. The plan covered: becoming good neighbours, further Bible Study to discuss the module on “Citizens Discussion” and some other actions. We hope that they would be consistent carrying out the action-plan to build the spirit of nationhood in their respective churches, for Indonesia and for God’s glory.
