On the 21st-25th March of 2012, the team from Institut Leimena, (Matius Ho, Daniel Adipranata and Viona Wijaya) visited Batak Karo Protestant Church (GBKP). This is the first citizenship education that Institut Leimena has held in Sumatra island.
The trip of about 2 hours from Medan to Kabanjahe was accompanied by beautiful sceneries of nature. Upon arriving at Kabanjahe, North Sumatera, we were at once received by the Moderamen (Synod) GBKP. We held introductions and also met with Rev. Simon Tarigan (Sekum), Rev. Rosmalia Barus (Chairman of Personnel and Human Resources) and Rev. Erick Barus (Chairman of Koinonia). The friendly atmosphere of the meeting was closed with a group lunch.

The next day (22nd March), we held a lecture titled “The Citizen in the Flow of Change of Indonesia” at the KWK (Christian Women Course) hall, Berastagi, North Sumatra. The lecture was attended by the vicars of GBKP, church representatives of Kabanjahe and Berastagi, and a few representatives of the foundations under the GBKP Synod. The lecture lasted for 3 hours and was closed with Citizenship Discussion about Indonesia Now.
