The Pasundan Christian Church or GKP Synod has long since been involved in building the society in West Java through various society services such as education and health. In order to encourage participation from the congregation of GKP to keep on involving themselves in the society, Leimena Institute held the 65th Training for Trainers (TOT) Citizen Education, in collaboration with the GKP Synod on September 17-19, 2015.

The training which was facilitated by Budi Setiamarga and Daniel Adipranata from Leimena Institute, was attended by 30 people, representatives from various institutions under the GKP Synod, among them are Christian Education Foundation or Yayasan Badan Pendidikan Kristen (YBPK), Maranatha Christian University Bandung, “Immanuel” Nursing School, “Immanuel” Hospital Bandung, and representatives from various classis under GKP Synod, among them the Priangan, Purwakarta, Depok, Jakarta, and Cirebon classis. The training was held in the GKP Synod Office meeting room in Bandung. Rev. Supriatno, Chairman of the GKP Synod, opened the training by emphasizing the importance of Christians in Indonesia to follow the footsteps of Johannes Leimena who helped built the Indonesian society, both through healthcare and his involvement in the government at that time.

Johannes Leimena and his wife were members of the GKP Synod. He was also the Chief of Immanuel Hospital, and helped built the Maranatha Christian University. Both institutions where Johannes Leimena was involved now are under the GKP Synod. Because of that, the TOT participants were encouraged to continue the spirit their elders had, and serve God through their service to others.
