29th Citizenship Education
Palu (Central Sulawesi), 3rd March 2012
“What can we do as theology students in order to make an impact?”
This was one of the intriguing questions posed by participants during the 29th Citizenship Education held on 3rd March, 2012, facilitated by Budi Setiamarga, Matius Ho and Puan Sari Siregar of Institut Leimena. The 29th Citizenship Education was attended by 20 students of the College of Theology Marturia, STT, within the auspices of the Snyod of the Protest Church of Indonesia Donggala (GPID) at Palu, Central Sulawesi.

Stevi Masambe, one of the students in attendance, said that the event was beneficial for theology students as they can learn things outside the realm of theology, such as how to become a responsible citizen, being active in the public sphere on the basis of caring, learning and taking actions, as well as learning to be sensitive and critical in the building of the community and country under the implementation of the Constitution. Juliani Bungan, another STT student, responded positively that they needed to know how to be the salt of the world so they can provide a positive influence.

Learning new things can raise awareness, broaden the horizons of knowledge, as well as encourage the creation of great ideas. In the end, people will be compelled to realize learning outcomes by manifesting it through real actions, starting from the surrounding neighborhood. Let us learn together and take action!
