For the first time, the Constitutional Court held a Video-Conference in 10 cities for Constitution Socialization program on Wednesday, April 6, 2016, from 7.30 am till 4 pm. The cities are scattered in various regions in Indonesia, namely Sumatra (Medan and Bandar Lampung), Kalimantan (Banjarmasin), Java (Surabaya, Yogyakarta and Bandung), Nusa Tenggara Timur (Kupang), Sulawesi (Manado and Palu), and Maluku (Ambon). Leimena Institute, through its contact persons in 10 cities, facilitating this event by inviting more than 200 young people from different groups and professional organizations.

Video-Conference event was broadcasted from the location of the Centre for Education of the Constitutional Court, in Cisarua, Bogor, utilizing Video-Conference facilities in 10 cities.  These facilities are generally used for long-distance hearing of the Constitutional Court. Video-Conference event was organized as part of the “Socialization of Citizen’s Constitutional Rights for Leimena Institute Activists” held in Cisarua, Bogor.

In QA session, questions and comments were submitted directly by the Video Conference participants on the speakers from the Constitutional Court, i.e. Prof. Dr. M. Guntur Hamzah, SH (Constitutional Court General Secretary 2015-present), Dr. Janedjri M. Gaffar, M.Sc. (Constitutional Court General Secretary 2003 to 2015), and Dr. Hj. Hesti Armiwulan, SH, M. Hum. (National Commission on Human Rights 2007-2012).

The utilization of communication technology for this Constitution Socialization program went very well. Until now, the Constitutional Court has Video-Conference facilities in 43 cities in Indonesia that are in 34 provinces in Indonesia. These facilities can be used to help Indonesian citizens throughout Indonesia to further understand the Constitution. Let us support the Constitutional Court in building constitution awareness for the people of Indonesia!
