Bolaang Mongondow (North Sulawesi), 27th February 2012
Institut Leimena was invited to fill in during the opening session of the Synod of the Evangelical Christian Church in Bolaang Mongondow (GMIBM) located at the Nazareth Congregation, Lolak Mogondow City District, North Sulawesi. GMIBM Synod was established in 1950 and serves the Bolaang Mongondow district in North Sulawesi. The session was opened by Rev. Christina Pangulimang, STh as the head of GMIBM Synod. It was attended by representatives of the 21 service areas in GMIBM.
In addition to making evaluations and planning services, the executive committee felt the need to provide new insights about nationality to the participants. The concept material on nationhood was presented by three speakers, namely the government of North Sulawesi, North Sulawesi Police Department and Institut Leimena. Institue Leimena’s Executive Director, Matius Ho, presented the material “Citizenship in the frame of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia”. During the presentation, a discussion panel was held with the police of the North Sulawesi Provincial Police Department that brought the material “Mapalus Kamtibmas”, delivered by the Head of Public Relations of the District Police, Rev. AKBP Deny Adare, S.Th.
In this event, it was stressed that the amendment to the 1945 Constitution meant that citizens have equal rights to build this nation along with the government. Thus as a part of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia, members of the church should be involved in the development of this nation.
