Leimena President Jakob Tobing discusses “Political Development Problems and Impacts, and the Fulfillment of Church’s Calling in the Midst of Current Political Development Dynamics” in this one day seminar for political education held by the Ambon Island District of Maluku Protestant Church (GPM) on March 15, 2014. The event took place at the GPM Church “Amahasu” Congregation in Ambon, Maluku province. GPM Church Synod Chairman Rev. John Ruhulesin gave the opening speech and Rev. Dicky Mailoa, a former legislative member, chaired the seminar which draw a diverse audience, including the city and provincial legislative candidates, pastors, church elders and youth activists within the Ambon Island District of GPM Church. In this seminar, Leimena Executive Director Matius Ho spoke on the calling of Christian bureaucrats and politicians in providing a moral-ethical role model through their political roles in the society and nation today.

In this seminar for political education in Ambon on March 29, 2014, Leimena Director of Center for Policy Analysis Budi Setiamarga explains the background and impact of the 1945 Constitution’s amendment on the role of citizens and the nation’s future. The seminar was held at the GPM Church “Getsemani” Congregation in Ambon, Maluku, and was attended by pastors, church elders and activists. In the earlier session, Leimena Executive Director Matius Ho talked on the calling of Christian bureaucrats and politicians in providing a moral and ethical role model. A day later, the same seminar was also conducted at the GPM Church “Gideon” Congregation near the famour Natsepa beach in Ambon.

Public lecture on “Citizens in the Wave of Political Change” was given by Budi Setiamarga and Matius Ho of the Leimena Institute at the Ciputra University on Saturday, April 5, 2014, with around 120 students participating. In accordance with the university’s vision to create world class entrepreneurs, the public lecture sought to open their horizon as to their responsibilities in building Indonesia for a better future.
