To better understand how to build interfaith relationship and cooperation through the experience of Maluku people, Paul Marshall and Matius Ho of the Leimena Institute, accompanied by the Maluku Protestant Church Synod\u2019s Vice Chair Rev. Lies Mailoa, went to visit the Indonesian Ulama Council (MUI) of Maluku in Ambon on August 25, 2014, for a discussion, which was greeted warmly by the Council\u2019s leaders. Why is religious freedom important, including for economic growth? This was one of the issues addressed by Leimena Institute\u2019s Senior Fellow Paul Marshall in a roundtable discussion with private sector leaders on \u201cThe Role of Business in Promoting Inter-Cultural and Inter-Religious Peace and Harmony\u201d in Bali on August 29, 2014. The program was part of the Sixth Global Forum of the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC). The roundtable discussion, which was opened by Indonesia Global Compact Network\u2019s President YW Junardy, was also attended by the UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon who gave the keynote address that evening. In the above picture, Paul Marshall and the UN Global Compact\u2019s Founding Member Martha Tilaar are with UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon shortly before his keynote address.<\/p>\n
