Intensive Lecture on Citizenship in Southeast Asia Bible Seminary (SAAT)<\/strong><\/span><\/h5>\nMalang, East Java, June 13-17, 2016<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n
Seminari Alkitab Asia Tenggara (SAAT) or Southeast Asia Bible Seminary invited Leimena Institute to hold an intensive course about Citizenship, located in the SAAT Campus in Malang, on 13 to 17 June 2016. The lecture was attended by 24 Bachelor of Theology student and was intended to give the students an understanding of the basics of Citizenship, Pancasila and the 1945 Constitution, on how to apply it in our daily lives as Christians, church members, and community members.<\/p>\n

For 5 full days, 30 hours meeting, Budi Setiamarga and Daniel Adipranata from Leimena Institute taught the materials on citizenship through lectures, video screenings, and citizen discussion. The students were encouraged to rethink and apply some of the principles on Citizenship is Responsible, Politics and the Christian Faith, Indonesian Visions, Unity in Diversity: Indonesia and Plurality of Religion, Human Rights: Freedom of Religion in a Pluralistic Religion in the world, Pancasila, Indonesia Today: Impact of Amendment of the Constitution 45 against us, Analyzing Learning (draft) Law, Church and Society Democracy, Citizenship Discussion concept and Relevance in Indonesia now, and Being a Smart Voter.<\/p>\n

Honestly, I am grateful for the holding of this course … Yes, although it was in an intensive week and compact but I got a lot of valuable lessons and example from Dr. Johannes Leimena life.<\/em> (Priscilla S. Atalia \u2013 SAAT student, GKI Emmaus-Surabaya)<\/p>\nThrough this class, I realized that Christians should be involved and strive to realize the ideals of the nation.<\/em> (Imelda Natalia Sembiring \u2013 SAAT student, GKMI Medan)<\/p>\nFinally, I can understand the whole article of the 1945 Constitution…! It was very special.<\/em> (Michael Engelbert \u2013SAAT student, GKI Bungur, Jakarta)<\/p>\nFor me citizenship is something boring to be discussed. But, Institut Leimena changed my paradigm.
