Christianity and Politics Training<\/strong><\/em><\/h6>\nAmbon, 30 November – 1 Desember 2016<\/p>\n
Is it necessary for Christians to be involved in politics? What kind of role does Christians play in politics? In order to answer those questions, The Klasis Ambon Island of Maluku Protestant Church (GPM) Synod and Leimena Institute conducted a Christianity and Politics Training. It was held on Nov. 30 until Dec. 1 2016 at Eden Congregation of GPM in Kuda Mati district, Ambon.<\/p>\n
The chairman of GPM synod, Rev. A.J.S. Werinussa, M.Si., officially opened the event with the presence of around 70 pastors and elders in the area. The two days training was led by Rev. Andreas A. Yewangoe (Chairman of the Advisory Council of the Indonesian Council of Churches), Dr. Maruarar Siahaan, S.H (Rector of the Indonesian Christian University), and Budi Setiamarga, PhD., (Director of Leimena Institute for Center for Religion and State Studies (CRSS)).<\/p>\n

The biblical basis of church and politics, as well as the practice in the political life in Indonesia, are the examples of the discussed topics. They also talked about the development of notion about Indonesia in the preamble to the 1945 Constitution. The amendment of the 1945 Constitution allows the citizen of Indonesia, including Christians, to actively involve in politics. Dr. Johannes Leimena has given the inspiration to be followed by Christians now. This training emphasized on the importance of Christians to take parts in law enforcement and corruption mitigation strategies for a better Indonesia.<\/p>\n
The participant were hoping to reach a better understanding about the meaning of politics in Christianity and realize the responsibility for Christians in politics. All of that are in hoping to encourage them to build Indonesia in their own expertise. The training was officially closed by the head of the training\u2019s organizer, Rev. Ricardo Rikumahu, STh., chairman of Klasis GPM Ambon Island.<\/p>\n

Peran apa yang bisa dilakukan orang Kristen dalam politik? \u00a0Atas kerjasama Klasis Pulau Ambon Sinode Gereja Protestan Maluku (GPM) dan Institut Leimena, diadakanlah Christianity and Politics Training yang antara lain mencoba menjawab pertanyaan-pertanyaan tersebut. \u00a0Pelatihan ini dilaksanakan pada tanggal 30 November sampai 1 Desember 2016 di GPM Jemaat Eden di Kuda Mati, Ambon.<\/div>\u00a0<\/div>Pelatihan ini dibuka secara resmi oleh Ketua Majelis Pekerja Sinode GPM, pdt. A.J.S. Werinussa, M.Si. dan dihadiri oleh sekitar 70 orang pendeta dan penatua dalam lingkungan Klasis Pulau Ambon. \u00a0Pelatihan selama dua hari ini dipimpin oleh pdt. Dr. Andreas A. Yewangoe, ketua Majelis Pertimbangan PGI, Dr. Maruarar Siahaan, S.H, Rektor Universitas Kristen Indonesia, dan Budi Setiamarga, PhD., direktur Center for Religion and State Studies (CRSS), Institut Leimena.\u00a0<\/div>\u00a0<\/div>Beberapa contoh topik bahasan yang disampaikan dalam pelatihan ini antara lain mengenai dasar Alkitabiah tentang Gereja dan Politik serta bagaimana aktualisasinya dalam perpolitikan di Indonesia. \u00a0Selain itu, dibahas juga tentang perkembangan gagasan Indonesia yang terwujud dalam Pembukaan UUD 1945. Adanya amandemen UUD 1945 memungkinkan warganegara Indonesia, termasuk warga gereja, untuk terlibat aktif dalam kehidupan politik di Indonesia.<\/div>\u00a0<\/div>Inspirasi yang telah diberikan oleh Dr. Johannes Leimena di masa lalu patutlah diteladani \u00a0oleh warga gereja di masa kini. Pelatihan ini juga memberi penekanan akan pentingnya peran warga gereja untuk terlibat aktif dalam penegakan hukum serta penanggulangan korupsi untuk Indonesia yang lebih baik di masa depan.<\/div>\u00a0<\/div>Melalui berbagai pokok bahasan ini, diharapkan peserta akan makin paham tentang makna politik dalam kerangka pemikiran Kristen serta menyadari tentang tanggung jawab orang Kristen dalam bidang politik. \u00a0Dengan demikian, umat Kristen dapat makin terdorong untuk terlibat secara aktif dan konstruktif dalam \u00a0membangun Indonesia, melalui bidangnya masing-masing. \u00a0Pelatihan ini ditutup secara resmi oleh pdt.
