32nd <\/sup>Civic Education<\/strong><\/p>\n

Bandung (West Java), 31 March 2012<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cGive me ten youths, and I will change the world!\u201d was the poignant words quoted from Sukarno\u2019s speech. This speech depicted the deep significance of youths for civilization.<\/p>\n

\n

This is the impression that arises in the 32nd Civil Education held by Institut Leimena in collaboration with the Bandung branch of the campus ministry groups GMKI and LPMI, located at Wilma Sejahtera, Dago, Bandung, in West Java (31\/3).<\/p>\n

\n

\"GMKI<\/p>\n

\n

No less than 35 national leaders candidates hailing from ITB Campus, University of Pajajaran, IT Telkom and many other campuses across Bandung, gathered to examine the paradigm of individuals with dual citizenship.<\/p>\n

\n

They were equipped with the understanding of this paradigm based on Biblical concepts of being the \u201csalt\u201d and \u201clight\u201d for the world, especially on the public stage.<\/p>\n

\n

\"GMKI<\/p>\n

\n

The discussion session constituted the exchange of ideas on national issues and practical solutions thereof facilitated by Institut Leimena\u2019s Center of Policy Analysis Director Budi Setiamarga, who is assisted with the Institut Leimena Civic Discussion Facilitators, Sahat Sinurat and Yanes David Sidabutar.<\/p>\n

\n

A truly refreshing welcome was given to the participants of this Civic Education and one of the most interesting insight of this event was uttered by an undergraduate of the ITB Civil Engineering, Halim Dinata:<\/p>\n

\n

\u201cBeyond amazing, this activity is really a blessing for university students to carry out the functions as a citizen of this nation, especially as a Christian student. I personally felt reproached and reminded about this responsibility. Sadly, why is the civic education in the university so unlike this one?\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

\n

What happened among the youths at Bandung is a wave, a paradoxical wave. On one hand, there is a concern for the dreadful condition of this nation and on the other there is an burning enthusiasm to do something useful for the nation.<\/p>\n

\n

Let us hope that this wave will continue to grow, for the glory of God and the welfare of the nation.<\/p>\n
