Two participants of the Community 28 event discuss the topic \u201cWanted! Local Leader\u201d at the Leimena Institute on March 9, 2013. The discussion with the award winning human rights lawyer Ester Jusuf raised the awareness of young people to be involved in their communities and to learn leadership skills from \u00a0the local level. Community 28 was initiated by the Leimena Insitute to provide a community for young people to strive for the ideals of Indonesia\u2019s independence and the nation\u2019s founding principles, Pancasila (\u201cFive Principles\u201d).<\/p>\n

On March 13, 2013, the Leimena Institute hosted a meeting with the national church leaders to discuss current issues in the national and church life. All three main church associations were represented in the meeting by Chairman Rev. A.A. Yewangoe and General Secretary Rev. Gomar Gultom of the Fellowship of Churches in Indonesia, Chairman Rev. M.D. Wakkary General Secretary Rev. Japarlin Marbun of the Fellowship of Indonesian Pentecostal Churches, and General Secretary Rev. Ronny Mandang of the Fellowship of Indonesian Evangelical Churches and Organizations. The meeting was chaired by the Leimena President Jakob Tobing and also attended by Leimena trustees Viveka Nanda Leimena, Edwin Soeryadjaya, Matius Ho, and executive members: Daniel Adipranata, Pontas Nasution, and Yans Penina.<\/p>\n

Matius Ho (Leimena Institute) with Y.W. Junardy, President of the Indonesia Global Compact Network (IGCN), while attending the \u201cPrivate Sector Leaders Roundtable on the Post-2015 Development Agenda” in Nusa Dua, Bali, on March 24-25, 2013. In this meeting, private sector leaders discussed global development agenda for post Millenium Development Goals deadline in 2015, as a recommendation to the UN General Secretary. The private sector leaders roundtable was facilitated by IGCN, a national partner of the UN Global Compact that asks companies to support 10 principles in the areas of human rights, labour standards, the environment and anti-corruption.<\/p>\n
