Yasonna H. Laoly, a member of Parliament, also spoke in the seminar entitled \u201cThe Rights and Responsibilities of Christians in the Life of Nation and State in Indonesia\u201d and chaired by Harianto, professor at the Bogor Insitute of Agriculture. This \u201cChurch, Society, and Religion\u201d seminar was held in Bogor, on August 24, 2013, by the GPIB Zebaoth Bogor church to commemorate the Independence Day of Indonesia.<\/p>\n

On August 20, 2013, at the SAAT (Southeast Asia Bible Seminary) Ministy Center in Jakarta, Leimena Institute President Jakob Tobing discusses \u201cIndonesia\u2019s Current Situation\u201d with the representatives of church synods in Jakarta, which include Church of Christ, Church of Christ Jesus, Jakarta Baptist Christian Church, Indonesian Christian Church of West Java Region, Indonesian Methodist Church, Jakarta Christian Church, Evangelist Christian Church, and board members of Communion of Chinese Churches in Indonesia and SAAT Ministry Center.<\/p>\n

On June 10 and July 8, 2013, Leimena Insitute holds successive meetings with the national church leaders to prepare the 2013 National Consultation and to discuss national situation. The participants included Fellowship of Churches in Indonesia (PGI) Chairman Rev. A.A. Yewangoe, Fellowship of Pentecostal Churches in Indonesia Vice Chairman Rev. Mulyadi Sulaeman, Fellowship of Evangelical Churches and Institutions in Indonesia General Secretary Rev. Ronny Mandang, Rev. Jusuf Pangestu of Communion of Chinese Churches in Indonesia, Seventh Day Adventist Church Communication Director Rev. Samuel Simorangkir, and from the Leimena Board of Trustees: Viveka Nanda Leimena, Junius Suhadi, Mangara Tambunan, Matius Ho, and R.K. Sembiring Meliala. Leimena President Jakob Tobing chaired both meetings.<\/p>\n

The program picked up a theme on \u201cChurch and Politics\u201d, where the participants began with \u201cCitizens\u2019s Discussion\u201d in small groups to discuss about responsible citizenship, then the discussion continued between Sulawesi and Jakarta with videoconference.<\/p>\n
